Lupe Velez was the first Latin actress to cross over to the mainstream and as such she was a pioneer in the film industry. She would have a tumultuous career with the highest of highs combined with the ultimate low when she took her own life in 1944 following personal issues and an unwanted pregnancy. The offered photo was taken in 1928 at the height of the Hollywood Vamp craze and she does her best to emulate it with a dark dress and make-up. One of the best images of Velez we have ever seen and it presents magnificently!
