In one of the last preludes to the "1980 Miracle on Ice" Olympics, the NHL All Stars met against the Soviet Union (basically the same team that would compete in the Olympics the next year) in a series of games called the "Challenge Cup". Cementing their status as the greatest team in the World, the Soviet Union would win the series two games to one. The offered unique image being offered here for the first time ever shows both teams lined up and ready for the first game in Madison Square Garden. The players on both teams can be easily identified as their backs are to the camera displaying their uniform numbers! A rare piece of hockey history in beautiful condition overall!
