1971 Photograph of Mrs. Bernice Gera who was the first female umpire in professional baseball, and who was promptly blackballed by the establishment and not give a chance to work. A such, she sued baseball over discrimination. Posed here after filing her suit, she was a pioneer of the game and one we all owe a debt of gratitude toward for her efforts to make the game fair for everyone who was qualified. A unique new discovery being offered here for the first time ever and taken by a local New York photographer named Vincent Riehl.
