Original 1920's silver gelatin photograph of one of the top Negro League baseball players of his era, George Scales, as he shows off his batting form in uniform with the Cuban team Almendares. A silver gelatin original that is certainly unique, it displays extremely well with a spot of damage on the lower right and some artistic corner clipping from publication. Reverse carries an original stamp from the photographer as well which is a nice touch. This is the ONLY image of Scales we have ever seen offered for sale in any form and he was a true superstar of the early days of the Negro Leagues!
