Ernest Lombardi was a hard hitting catcher, possibly the best hitter at that position to ever play the game, but when this photo was taken during the 1930 season, he was another PCL standout that probably would not pan out in the Major Leagues. He would buck the trend set forth by other California Sensations and continue his incredible run at the plate on the biggest stage, putting up numbers that make your jaw drop for a large, slow catcher! Image is large and bold and of utmost importance, it pre-dates his rookie baseball card and is in nice shape overall.
